Berts thoughts


Summer is coming to a end. Cool mornings warm after noons and in the evening the cool wind blowing through our bedroom window. . My canning is still going on. Tomatoes but I think another week. I have some projects too that I want to finish. slouchy beanies for the 4 young ladies (17-26) in my life for christmas. And my queen size quilt

Our garden is doing well and the cut flower garden and my rose garden. But there also lots of hard work. You know u can always go to town to enjoy the shopping. movies and eating out
but its always good to come back to the country life. I love our life here in the country

Sunday morning is the best

I love Sunday mornings. It means the day off. No work. My husband always makes the coffee sunday morning before i get up. Then i read the sunday paper. no quick breakfast but a full nice one.Then thank the Lord, for my life. In the afternoon garage sales, visit friends, go a for a ride. What a day...

about me

We had a 85* day here. Worked in the garden, Its always more fun when i get the results
of my work. The kids and us had a nice barbacue I like sitting around and just listening
to them. I try to figure when its best to listen and when i might be able to help by talking

homemade applesauce to can or just to make to eat

Recipe Created By: Prep. Time: 1:00Serves: 12 - 16 lbs. tart apples - peeled, cored, sliced (see Notes, below)1 cup water1 Tbls. lemon juice1/4 cup granulated sugar1 tsp. ground cinnamon1 tsp. ground allspice-Combine all apples, water, and lemon juice in heavy large pot or Dutch oven.-Bring to boil over high heat, then reduce heat to medium. Cover and simmer until apples are tender, about 20 minutes. -Uncover and cook until mixture thickens, stirring frequently, about 10 minutes longer. -Mash apples slightly with potato masher until chunky applesauce forms.-Stir sugar, cinnamon, and allspice into apples
